Student Films Showcase College Learning
Shetland College UHI has launched a range of student profile films which ask the question ‘why do you study here?’ The films were produced by three media students from Norway who were recently on work placement as part of an international exchange programme.
In just four weeks they produced seven videos featuring interviews with students of construction, culture and heritage, computing, health and care, art and design, New Directions and hospitality. In addition to this, they produced a video giving an overview of the college and another sharing their favourite memories from their time living in Shetland.
The new videos were launched earlier this week; shared on the college website, Facebook and YouTube channel. For anyone considering studying locally they provide a good insight into the learning opportunities available at Shetland College UHI.
Interim Joint Principal, Willie Shannon, said ‘The Vocational Exchange Programme with our partners in Voss, Norway has yet again been a tremendous success and we are looking forward to future programmes for 2018.’ He added, ‘We hope these films will inspire young people to study with us here at Shetland College UHI.’
In addition to students being based in Shetland the College also sent five students to Voss for four-week placements. Their placements were in work settings that supported their course work and ranged from students working in ski resorts, construction workshops, a care home as well as print and design work placements. Future international and exchange opportunities are being developed at the College to offer to students next year.
