Musical Buzz in Briggistanes as Students Prepare for Show
Shetland College staff and students were treated to a wonderful laid back musical performance from our NC and HNC music students yesterday. In preparation for their “Student Night” concert taking place next week, the talented students who are normally based in our Mareel campus put on a lunchtime acoustic performance in the Briggistanes area of Shetland College at Gremista.
We were treated to some wonderful singing and guitar playing as the students drummed up excitement for their performance next week. The canteen was busy with staff and students from Shetland College and NAFC Marine Centre UHI enjoying a bite while listening to the students’ easy to listen to and enchanting performance.
The music brought delight to staff and students who hope that this can become a regular feature in the future.

The Student Night evening concert takes place at Mareel on Thursday 29th November and is part of their live performance module where they will be graded. Audiences can expect a wide range of genres from country to metal to jazz and classical. Kari, NC Music student says “it’s the best night you’ll ever experience” while NC Music student Scott states that it will feature “the best musicians Shetland has to offer”.
Chris, also studying music and who captured these photographs, encourages folk to come along to a “relaxed night of music in Mareel”. Admission is free and more information can be found at on the Shetland Arts website. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Good luck to our students and we look forward to seeing you in concert next week and hopefully again in the Shetland College canteen soon!
