The Marine Spatial Planning Team at Shetland UHI is a multi-disciplinary team and has a range of expertise developed across commercial, research and statutory planning projects.

This includes:

  • Policy analysis and development
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Data and mapping (ARC GIS)
  • Constraint mapping
  • Processing, analysis and use of vessel tracking technology (inshore VMS, VMS, and AIS)
  • Formal assessments such as EIA, SEA, HRA
  • Biosecurity Planning and non-native species monitoring
  • Marine surveying and habitat mapping
  • Predicative modelling
