Senior Phase

This exciting and newly revised 1 year course provides a great opportunity to gain knowledge and skills for a career in nursing, allied professions, social services or social work. With units on topics such as Human Development & Social Influences, Social Services in Scotland and Communication in Care Relationships, this level 6 qualification provides progression to our HNC programmes.

Entry in S5 or S6. 

Suitable for students who are interested in gaining insight into the marine industries and achieving two recognised qualifications whilst continuing their study at school. This is an introductory course for those looking to progress to a career in aquaculture, the Merchant Navy, marine biology or fish catching.

Entry in either S5 or S6.

This 1-year qualification is designed to provide Senior pupils the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge for a potential further course or a career in Graphics and Media Design. The course uses latest industry standard design software and allows pupils to build a digital web-based portfolio of their work. This course is suitable for those with an interest in art, design, graphic design, games development and marketing.

Entry in S6.

This course is suitable for pupils interested in computer hardware and gaming, and those interested in a future career as a Computer Engineer, or an area related to Graphics and Games Design. No prior programming experience is required.

Entry in S5 or S6.

This course is suitable for pupils who enjoy practical activities and are looking to develop skills and experience in preparation for a modern apprenticeship in construction or a career path in a related discipline.

Entry in either S5 or S6.

Learn digital media production skills in audio and film at Mareel. Ideal for students with Creative Industry career aspirations in music, film, TV, communications and marketing. 

Entry in S6.

This course explores the various energy industries and develops practical skills by building a small-scale solar hot water system and wind turbine. There are opportunities to develop employability skills to aid progression into careers in the energy sector.

Entry in S5 or S6. 

This course is intended for school-based pupils who are considering a career within the engineering industry and are looking for broad-based training in both practical skills and knowledge.

Completion of this course could lead students onto Year 2 of our Engineering Modern Apprenticeship. 

Either in either S5 or S6.

With this Foundation Apprenticeship, you’ll be prepared for a wide range of different childcare roles. Look after young children as a nursery worker or childminder or train as a teacher.

This qualification is accepted by many universities as the equivalent to one or two Highers at grade B for entry onto related degrees.

Entry in S5 or S6.

This course is designed to give learners the opportunity to expand their creative abilities and to explore various techniques, enabling them to build their portfolio, alongside embracing their own creative identity. It is suitable to be studied alongside Higher Art or as a standalone course.

Entry in either S5 or S6 (entry only in S6 for AHS pupil)

This 1 year course provides a great opportunity to gain knowledge and skills involved in youthwork. This level 6 qualification offers a wide range of progression routes into apprenticeships and higher education, as well as a range of career options.
During the course you will have the opportunity to have placement experience in a youthwork setting

Entry in S5 or S6. 

This course develops your knowledge and understanding of the sociological perspectives, theories and concepts used to investigate and explain aspects of the social world.

This course is only available to pupils who will be studying at Brae High School in S5 and S6.
