Course Summary
The course introduces different Computing subject areas including both technical and creative. Students will learn hands-on skills throughout the course. Computer Hardware and Networking skills are embedded in project work, and the Games Development element of the course will include an introduction to Graphic Design skills.
- Technical: Computer Hardware, Operating Systems, Networking
- Creative: Graphics Design, Games Development
- Transferrable: Technical skills, research skills, self-reflection, individual and group work, planning and evaluation.
- Engagement with local industry - guest speakers.
The course (4 credits) consists of a selection of SQA National 4 level units:
- Computer Hardware & Systems
- Setting up Computer Systems
- Computer Games: Development
- Computer Games: Graphics Assets

- Further study at the college leading onto a Degree course. For example, enter onto our NQ/NC Interactive Media & Computing course and further progress onto HNC level. With 1 Higher/NC/NQ – enter onto our HNC Computing OR HNC Digital Design courses. Options to further progress onto various Degree courses exist.
