Course Summary
An introductory qualification which develops the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed for work in the construction industry. It is especially suitable for learners with an aptitude for and an interest in practical craft work.
The course covers five modules including:
- Painting and decorating
- Site and bench joinery
- Bricklaying
- Understanding Industry
- Personal Development
A record of practical work assessments will be used to produce a portfolio of your time at the College.
On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded SQA National Progression Award level 4 Construction Craft and Technician.

There are opportunities to apply for a modern apprenticeship in either craft or technical levels within the construction industry.
Those planning to remain at school for S5 and S6 may apply for a Construction Academy at UHI Shetland.
