Course Summary
This course is designed to give you a range of practical skills and to learn about the different roles and responsibilities. The course content places emphasis throughout all units on the employability skills and attitudes which will help to prepare candidates for the workplace.
These include:
- Salon awareness
- Working in a salon
- Employability skills
- Creativity
Assessment will be based mainly on practical activities carried out in a salon environment. Performance evidence will be supported by tutor observation checklists. Candidates will also review their own performance, and gather evidence in a folio.
On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded SQA accreditation at National 4 level.

The main focus of this course is on hairdressing, however there will be opportunities to learn about other beauty specialisms including make-up artistry, holistic therapy, massage and nail care.

The number of places on each course is limited and you may not get a place on the course of your choice if there are more applications than there are places available.
