Accounting (F/T) SCQF Level 5
What is special about this course?
The NC Accounting SCQF Level 5 introduces learners to techniques that are important in the accounting sector and is designed to enable learners with no previous experience of accounting to gain the necessary skills and knowledge required for employment and further study.
It develops knowledge and understanding of book-keeping, financial and management accounting and gives progression onto further study i.e. SVQ, HNC and/or AAT registration.
This course is suitable for school leavers or other young people looking for employment in an accounting or administration field; it may also be attractive if you are a mature student wishing to change career direction or return to full or part time study.
Entry requirements
3 National 4s, one preferred in maths/numeracy
or
2 Standard Grades at General level (or equivalent), one preferred in maths/numeracy
or
satisfactory attainment of a SCQF Level 4 course.
Applications are encouraged from anyone who does not possess formal qualifications but have appropriate understanding and skills/experience to meet the academic demands of the course.

- Handling Wages and Salaries
- Analysing Accounting Information
- Preparing Financial Accounting
- Preparing Management Accounting
- Spreadsheets for Administrators
- IT Solutions for Administrators*
- Communication (core skills)
Optional units are:
- Recording Cash Transactions
- Contract Law: An Introduction
- Financial Skills for small businesses
- Preparing Management Accounting Information
- Analysing Accounting Information
- Preparing Financial Accounting Information
- Professional Ethics for Accountants
- Recording Transactions in the Ledger
- Units are also offered as stand alone units which can be studied individually
