Along with NorthLink Marketing Assistant Shona Lawrance they were in Shetland for Shetland Boat Week, and visited NAFC to try out the Centre's ship bridge simulator. Having safely navigated a simulated ferry out of Lerwick Harbour Capt. Scott judged the simulator to be very realistic. The visitors also received a tour of the Centre and were impressed by the facilities and range of activities carried out at NAFC.

NAFC has close links with NorthLink which has sponsored a number of students on the Centre's Merchant Navy Cadet Programme, some of whom are now employed on the company's vessels. Classes from the Centre are also regular visitors to NorthLink ships when they are in Lerwick Harbour.

As part of Shetland Boat Week NorthLink's Hrossey will be open to the public on Saturday 13th August. Tickets can be booked via the Boat Week website.

NAFC has also been offering members of the public the opportunity to have a go in its ship bridge simulator as part of Shetland Boat Week, which have proved to be very popular.
