Shetland Boat Week
NAFC's ship bridge simulator sessions proved to be a popular attraction during Shetland Boat Week.
More than 50 people of all ages visited the NAFC Marine Centre during Shetland Boat Week to have a go at steering a ship using the Centre's ship bridge simulator. The 'skippers' were challenged by a variety of simulated weather and sea conditions and other ships but all managed to safely navigate their way in or out of harbour.
The Centre hopes that some of the young people who attended the sessions will return in the future to undertake formal training allowing them pursue a career at sea.
